For one week each December, Miami becomes the center of the art world and one of the best parties of the year. Art Basel Miami Beach returns December 4 – 6, 2026, while Miami Art Week runs November 30 – December 6, bringing collectors, artists, galleries, brands, and art lovers from around the world to South Florida. More than 250 galleries from over 40 countries are expected at the main fair this year, hosted at the Miami Beach Convention Center. But anyone who has experienced Art Basel knows the week extends far beyond the convention center. From gallery openings and collector dinners to brand activations and late-night parties, the social scene has become almost as anticipated as the art itself.
Where to Experience Art Basel in Miami
The main event takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center in South Beach, but some of the most exciting experiences happen all across Miami. Wynwood remains an essential Art Week destination, known for its galleries, artist studios, colorful murals and Wynwood Walls. Nearby, the Miami Design District combines contemporary art, architecture, fashion and luxury, with public installations and institutions, including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. Admission into the ICA, unlike most institutions, is free.
Art lovers should also make time for the Rubell Museum in Allapattah and Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Downtown Miami, while Miami Beach offers cultural institutions such as The Bass alongside the main fair. A must-see during Miami’s Art Week is the work of Romero Britto, whose colorful pop-art style has become instantly recognizable around the world. Creative Tastes had the opportunity to cater at Britto Palace in Miami, bringing art, food, and hospitality together in one of the city’s most distinctive creative settings. During Art Basel, Britto’s spaces are a natural draw for visitors looking to experience the bold, colorful energy that has made his work such a recognizable part of Miami.
And then there are the satellite fairs. Art Miami, CONTEXT, Design Miami, NADA, SCOPE, Untitled Art, Red Dot and Spectrum are among the many fairs scheduled throughout the city during Miami Art Week 2026.
Where to Party During Art Basel
Once the galleries close, Art Week shifts gears. South Beach’s hotels become destinations of their own, with properties including The Miami Beach EDITION, Faena, Delano and Fontainebleau expected to be among the week’s gathering places. Soho Beach House is also known for its coveted members-only and invitation-only Art Week events. Across the bridge, Wynwood offers an entirely different energy. The neighborhood fills with pop-ups, live music, brand activations and parties, including the annual Hive at Mana Wynwood. Whether it’s an intimate dinner for collectors, an opening-night champagne reception or a full- scale brand activation, entertaining has become an integral part of the Art Basel experience.
Art Basel Catering for Miami Galleries & Events
For Creative Tastes Catering & Event Production, Art Week is familiar territory. During a previous Art Week, Creative Tastes catered an intimate collector’s dinner for 60 guests at Piero Atchugarry Gallery. The evening began with butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, including local catch ceviche and miniature Beef Wellington, before guests sat down for a multi-course dinner. Champagne upon arrival, cocktails, fine china, furnishings, and a complete service team were all part of creating the evening.
At Britto Palace, Creative Tastes designed a menu for a 50-guest event meant for mingling, rather than a formal seated dinner. Guests enjoyed an appetizer buffet featuring artisan cheeses, Caprese skewers, shrimp cocktail, handmade miniature beef empanadas, tuna tartar with caviar and more, alongside Prosecco and a selection of wines. But Art Basel catering isn’t always about the party. Before guests arrive, galleries, artists and production teams can spend days installing and preparing exhibitions. Creative Tastes has also previously catered for Goldman Global Arts, providing three consecutive days of breakfast, coffee and lunch for a 55-person team working around an installation. It’s a side of Art Week visitors rarely see, and one that requires just as much planning.
What to Know When Catering an Art Basel Event
During one of Miami’s busiest weeks of the year, planning is essential. Venues, rentals, and staffing are in high demand, and the logistics matter just as much as the menu. Let the space shape the service. Galleries require catering to work around the art and the way guests move through an exhibition. At Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood, where Creative Tastes has produced events in the interior galleries and sculpture courtyard, service may need to account for protected gallery floors, lighting, and the flow of guests throughout the space. Passed hors d’oeuvres such as mini mojo pork Cuban sandwiches and poached lobster salad “Sliders” with caviar and champagne can work naturally for a gallery night or opening, while an intimate dinner may call for a seated, multi-course experience.
Know what your venue can handle. Art Week events also take place in studios and event venues. Creative Tastes has worked extensively at SOHO Studios, a 60,000-square-foot industrial venue in Wynwood, where producing an event means completely transforming the raw space. Kitchen and prep areas, catering vehicle access, power, rentals, load-in, setup and breakdown should all be considered well before guests arrive.
What Does Art Basel Catering Cost?
There isn’t one price for an Art Basel party. A daytime gallery lunch, cocktail reception and formal collector dinner have completely different requirements. Guest count and menu are only the beginning. Staffing, bartenders, champagne and cocktails, rentals, china, glassware, furniture, linens, delivery, temporary kitchen equipment, setup and breakdown can all affect the final budget. A three-hour seated dinner, for example, may require hours of work before the first guest arrives and after the last one leaves. For Creative Tastes’s 60-person collector dinner, the service schedule included two hours for setup and another hour for breakdown in addition to the event itself. That’s why planning early matters, especially during one of Miami’s busiest weeks of the year.

Creative Tastes Catering & Event Production has produced countless events throughout Miami and South Florida.
